01 Aug British Gas to raise electricity prices
Reports this morning have stated that British Gas will increase their electricity prices by 12.5% from September which is likely to effect of 3 million customers. Centrica, who own British Gas, have blamed transmission and distribution costs and the costs of government policy. Consumer experts are concerned that it could spark price rises from other electricity suppliers this winter. Centrica reported an adjusted profit before tax of £639m for the six months to June, down from £688m in the previous year.
